Stamford Woman Gave Officers Different Names After Stealing From CVS In Greenwich, Police Say

A Stamford woman has been charged after police say stole from CVS in Greenwich and provided officers with fake names.

Greenwich Police say they were dispatched to CVS in Old Greenwich (225 Sound Beach Avenue) on a report of a shoplifting incident in progress on Saturday, July 27 around 9 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers say they located the female suspect based on the description provided and confirmed that she was in possession of the stolen merchandise.

During interviewing, police say the woman provided officers with several different names in an attempt to conceal her identity. The woman eventually admitted to stealing the merchandise from CVS, according to police.

The woman was arrested, transported to police headquarters and identified via fingerprinting and previous arrest photos as Shawana Smith, 47, of Stamford, police say.

Smith was charged with sixth-degree larceny and interfering with officers/resisting arrest. She was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to return to court on Saturday, August 10.
